Welcome back to my slightly irregular “A coffee with…” series where I sit down for a metaphorical brew and a chat with someone I love spending time with.
I am really delighted to be able to share this interview with Sandi Rosner. Sandi writes the lovely Substack - A Good Yarn - and she is a really talented knitting designer as well as being a tech editor, writer and teacher. I always love to read her Substack and her sheer joy of all things yarn related really shines through.
So, without further ado I’ll leave you in Sandi’s capable hands.
Thanks so much for inviting me for coffee! Here are the answers to your questions:
It’s no secret that coffee is my favourite drink – what’s yours?
Coffee, always, black, no sugar. Unless we're at Starbucks, then it's a Mocha with non-fat milk and no whipped cream.
You have a spare half an hour in your day – how do you relax and ‘fill your cup’?
A spare half hour will be spent listening to an audiobook while knitting. This always slows me down and brings me back to myself.
Analogue or digital – when it comes to planners, diaries and journaling in general are you paper & pen or online?
I'm a hybrid. For scheduling I use Google Calendar. For workflow management, I'm a fan of Trello. I don't keep a journal, but for taking notes nothing beats good quality paper and a fountain pen with ink in a beautiful color.
What are you currently reading?
This is my favorite question! When someone answers "I'm not really a reader", I know we probably won't have much in common. In audio, I'm listening to a novel called Ruth Run by Elizabeth Kaufman. It's a thriller about a woman who has engineered the electronic theft of millions from banks and the man who is hunting her. On my Kindle, I'm reading a novel called Sipsworth by Simon Van Booy. It's about an 80-year old widow who returns after 60 years in Australia to the English town where she grew up following the loss of her husband and son. On paper, I'm reading Mother Emanuel by Kevin Sack. It's the story of the 200-year-old Black church in Charleston South Carolina where in 2015 a white supremacist walked into Bible study and shot the pastor and eight members of the congregation.
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
You don't need to conform to some image of the woman you think people want you to be. You are enough. You are worthy.
I couldn’t agree more - thanks Sandi.

Thanks for the coffee, Louise! and for introducing me to your lovely community.
