It’s been a week of all the knitting this week.
Earlier in the week I released my new shawl pattern - Find My Light (cheeky acronym FML) - which is a super long, super skinny garter stitch shawl. Perfect for those who prefer something a little different to traditional triangular shaped, sockweight shawls.
This week also saw the release of the new Knitty and there are some really fabulous patterns in this edition. The highlight for me is the stunning Megadahlia by the very talented Franklin Habit. It’s a traditional doily pattern knit in the round but reworked in heavier weight yarn to become a lap blanket - definitely high on my to-knit list.
As with all the editions of Knitty though there is something for every level of knitter, and as always, thanks to the way Knitty is structured they are all completely free. The site has also had a refresh and a redesign, so if you haven’t looked there for a while do pop over and have a browse.
Making me smile this week:
This great article on time management by
I’m a huge fan of Leuchhturm for my bullet journaling but I’ve been toying with the idea of a weekly planner to try and give a more structured feel to my week. This weekly planner is really tempting me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the free form nature and flexibility of my dot grid journals but sometimes I feel I need a bit more of a framework on which to hang my weeks on.
I was excited to pre-order the new (and first) book from
- the 1% Wellness Experiment. I’ve followed Gabrielle for several years now, first on Instagram and now here and I love her refreshing, honest and compelling writing. She offers practical and actionable tips to overcome procastination and perfectionism and to just generally be a little bit happier and a little less overwhelmed - definitely something I need in my life right now.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m off to do some deep breathing and de-stressing. Our A level stresses (thanks to eldest son) have neatly segued into accommodation stressing as due to a serious of unfortunate events he missed out on a place at Uni halls. Please send all the good thoughts as we battle the private rental system in Southampton.
I really enjoyed reading your post. Your new shawl pattern is lovely!
Wishing you well with your accommodation searching. My three grateful things this week are:
1. Friends - one particular friend sensed from the tone of my written WhatsApp messages that I was struggling with something. She immediately picked up the phone to check in on me.
2. Fresh air - the weather has been hot and humid so I’ve been getting up early to walk our black four-legged fur baby. The peace and quiet out in the fresh air was very welcome.
3. Appreciating a very relaxing facial having saved up for some time.
