I know it is usual to greet a New Year with energy, enthusiasm and vigour but I really love that in our slow-living community here on Substack we are finding people who think like we do.
Who like to take things at a slower pace.
Who recognise that the middle of winter, when all right-thinking creatures are taking things slowly, is no time to be leaping about hustling our way into a new year or a new body.
So, with that foremost in my mind, this is not my regular Friday newsletter. It’s more of a gentle welcome into the new year and an acknowledgement that however you are choosing to spend these few days and weeks, that is absolutely fine.
Not everything needs to be done now. Just take care of you.
We have time - we have so much time as

I haven’t set any crafty resolutions - mainly because I find I don’t stick to them. But I have set myself the intention of buying more mindfully in 2025. As well as declaring that this year - finally - will be there year I master Tunisian crochet.
It looks like a fascinating technique and one that I have been saying I want to learn for far too long.
How about you?
Have you set any resolutions this year or are you waiting for spring?
Resonates with exactly what I said about starting this year, that although I have many plans and ideas I'm excited about, there's no need to jump right into them in January.
January is a good time for quiet, slow, simple, gentle. January is a good time to continue letting all of the ideas marinate a little bit longer. The year ahead has plenty of time for concocting the creations and savoring them. It will all taste better marinated.

I’m with you on the slow front. My resolution is more rest, more writing, less news, and, more randomly, a new creative project of painting silk scarves! ☺️ Happy New Year Louise!
