Autumn-themed scrappy socks

There is something so very satisfying about using up yarn that you already have isn’t there? One of the things I find amusing about non-knitters is their assumption that knitting is somehow a thrifty or cheap hobby 😂 We wish.

But using up yarn leftovers is one of those areas of knitting life where we can attain a pleasingly thrifty air from our favourite pursuit. And happily, leftovers are a fact of life where our knitting is concerned.

I don’t know about you but whenever I knit a pair of socks for me I usually only use about 60g from the 100g skein of sock yarn. Which means that, if left unchecked my sock yarn leftover jar can rapidly start to overflow - in fact I think they secretly multiply when I’m not looking.

Luckily we knitters have strategies we can deploy for just such an eventuality:

Every Friday I send out a newsletter to members of my paid Everyday Knitter community on Substack. This week I am sharing my tips for dealing with leftover yarn as well as giving you the opportunity to download two of my paid-for patterns for free - should you wish to get a grip on your yarn leftovers too.

Come and join us - you would be very welcome indeed.
