Have you tried “Solefull socks”? They are knit from the center of the sole up. Betty Salpekar has a lot of great patterns for them. I find them a lot of fun and the soles are usually double enforced and that lasts me better.
Sorry to say it, but I am a confirmed cuff-down person. The majority of the socks that I knit are for my husband, and his feet suit a traditional heel flap and gusset better than an afterthought or short-row heel. I remember making him a pair of neon striped socks with afterthought heels, and he really had to force them on, so he never wore them. I have tried a toe-up pattern with a gusset and heel flap (reversed) but it means I have to concentrate too much, whereas with cuff-down my standard vanilla sock recipe is engraved on my brain so I can almost do it without thinking 😁
It’s a really engaging book isn’t it. I guess it’s always interesting when you are dealing with such familiar characters, but I think the author manages it really well.
I’m sticking to a brief skirmish with German short rows and Italian cast off ( resisting using bind off) Toe up socks - naah- I love the joy of NOT doing Kitchener graft and doing Finchley graft instead. Same effect, infinitely less complicated!
As a fan of Bird and Blend myself, I can highly recommend Pineapple Mint for cold brewing. But honestly, everything they do is blooming delicious so whatever you go for, you'll be fine!
Why do I not like Jane Austen? Everybody else seems to and knows who the Bennett sisters are. I have tried many times but nope! (Not enough murders I think! 😁). There seems to be some kind of anniversary too so suddenly she’s everywhere? Oh well. 💜
I would rather like getting Everyday Knitter knitting updates from a yurt in the deepest Wales.....
It does sound rather appealing doesn;t it 😂
Champagne, of course!
Ha! I love that

Oh thank you, I'll check that out

To be fair, I always knit cuff down for mu husband and sons - I find that they tend to prefer a traditional heel flap.
I just finished The Other Bennet Sister. I really enjoyed it. So happy I’ve found you here. 😃
I haven’t braved toe up yet…
It’s on the list.

I look forward to the show. I believe it will be out in October. :)

Paris Herbal from Harney is nice...do you know it in the UK?
Oh, that’s a new one. Thank you, I’ll check it out.

Toe-up is in my list of sock things to try. You make it sound so attractive!
Given the choice I would just make a ton of little sock toes, they are are always so cute.

Ha, who could resist when they stake a claim to our knits. They are just too cute to refuse.
