“We should be sharing our daily joys. The things that make us happy”. Totally agree, the world is a tough place and we’re surrounded by negative wherever we look. So whilst I’m aware of things, I chose not to dwell on them. Life’s too short, we should be enjoying it where we can. It’s why I only write about the joys of life not the rough stuff.
I agree wholeheartedly, Louise. The times we live in and what’s going on needs our attention but our minds can only take in so much. Also, as you said, we need to remember the joys in the everyday - the sun shining, my grandson’s laugh (I told his Mum that I need to have a dose of him at least once a week to improve my mood), the connections we cherish with friends and family, a good laugh, a hobby that gives you pleasure. Thank you, I needed this today ❤️
Thank you for writing Louise. I truly look up to you in so many ways. I have been struggling with the thought of going paid on my newsletter lately. I keep thinking why would someone care to read my writing if it's paywalled. But as you mentioned, we need these little things now more than ever. Life has felt so chaotic lately, so this was such a wonderful reminder that came at the right time.♥️
The paywall thing is difficult I know and it brings up a lot of conflicting thoughts for all of us I think.
My best advice would be to just quietly turn it on - a kind of soft launch if you like and see what happens.
Substack does a good job of quietly selling our work to our free subscribers (if you turn these on in settings) so you don’t have to make it too salesly.
Just pop the subscribe button in there and see what happens. You can always turn it off or pause it again if it feels too much.
Yes, I agree - we must focus on the good that is right in front of us, in order not to become overwhelmed by all the rest. This week, I'm appreciating a good cup of coffee - and the fact that I just finished knitting a shawl I started in January!
I found that in my mid to late teens and again now I am perimenopausal my eyes became very light sensitive. I was the kid with the reactolite glasses. Now I have reactolite varifocals.
My glasses are the main reason I got a credit card again. Even with free eye tests and a voucher for low income they end up so expensive. Can't see much at all without them though so the cost must be met.
Considering how everything feels heavy nowadays your glimpse of little joys is most welcome in my inbox. Keep going. And thank you for doing so
Aww, thank you. I really appreciate that. How are you doing? I've missed seeing you here 🧡

Oh hooray! Finishing a project is always such a pleasure
Feels like a miracle, sometimes.

I was just thinking today that my varifocal prescription is about to get a lot more expensive 🤣
