I’m going to make a sneaky little confession here - I’m not actually all that keen on bank holiday weekends*. Yes, I know it’s nice to have a break from routine and a rest but so often it comes with a whole load of added pressure (either perceived or real).
Everywhere is busier, parking/traffic is generally a nightmare and it seems as though everyone apart from you has exciting plans.
Usually, on this weekend we are away in the Lake District at our regular rental cottage so Easter just rolls into our usual walking days. This year for various reasons we aren’t going until next week and unexpectedly this has brought up some real feelings around the last time we couldn’t travel at Easter (the Covid 2020 lockdown).
I’ve dealt with this in my usual head-in-the-sand kind of way so we are devoid of plans for the next 4 days. And actually, I’m fine with that arrangement.
I plan to eat chocolate, read, knit and generally try to avoid getting sucked into any household DIY which has been very prevalent of late.
This weekend I shall mostly be:
Making Easter nests - any excuse to buy chocolate and mini eggs.
Contemplating casting on a Battenberg blanket - someone talk me out of it (please).
Trying to rescue my bricked Kindle (it seems a bit dead) or alternatively buying a new one if rescue attempts fail.
Dipping into Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert in advance of the read along hosted by
Taking myself off for a nature walk.
Working on the colourwork yoke of my Kismet Sweater.
How about you - what are your plans? Please tell me I’m not the only one who isn’t keen on bank holidays.
Sorry, but I won't be the one to talk you out of a Battenburg. Mine is scrappy and I love it. I alternated the colorful squares with cream. Each square was made while watching football on Sundays. The squares were added as I went along. It's squishy.
any holiday is an excuse to drink wine, eat chocolate, and play with yarn!!! and love on the dog!!! ♥
