Sorry, but I won't be the one to talk you out of a Battenburg. Mine is scrappy and I love it. I alternated the colorful squares with cream. Each square was made while watching football on Sundays. The squares were added as I went along. It's squishy.
I plan on taking on a few creative projects for the long weekend (4 days here) and some socializing today with close friends. I especially hate how crowded the stores are when it's a holiday but I look forward to buying discounted chocolate on Monday!
No bank holidays here in the US and the company I work for doesn’t close for Good Friday. As for talking you out of casting on the blanket, well, your post is titled Five on Friday and I count 6 bullet points. Dare I say this to a fellow devoted knitter, but maybe you could drop that stitch? 😁
We are usually away at Easter, but for various reasons decided to stay at home this year. Possibly not a good idea ... I picked no 2 son up from his lodgings on Wednesday, only to have the ABS system fail on my car - fortunately only a few miles short of getting home (drove carefully and fortunately made it). On Wednesday night the filter on my fish tank failed for the nth time, so yesterday I decided it was time for a new tank - managed to hurt my back while setting up the new tank and moving the old one out of the house. This morning the pump on the garden watering system failed - husband currently trying to sort that one out. Would have been cheaper to pay for plane tickets to go and stay on our boat!!
I have never been keen on bank holidays. It gets a bit mad here on the island at Easter. Lots of tourists, second home owners back for the first time since Xmas, and day trippers clog up all my favourite walks and haunts. I don’t resent them. After all that used to be me and they bring a lively vibe to local venues. Our coffee shop knitting groups are carrying on as normal, though they’ll be wanting our table back sooner than usual.
Battenberg blanket. Can’t recommend it enough. I’ve done two from sock yarn leftovers (I had WAY more than I thought). Just needed to buy some natural color for the plain squares. I did three round squares rather than the four. Better suited the small leftovers. Really, it was so much fun.
I'm retired and I love my permanent holiday. I just plan on knitting and making soup, maybe. The blanket looks like a wonderful long-term project! On another note, I unblocked my kindle by holding in the on/off button for probably 2-4 minutes and it rebuilt itself...just a suggestion.
As a freelance worker, public holidays are irrelevant to me—I don't get paid if I don't deliver work, and deadlines determine whether or not I get a day off. Of course, I'm grateful for that work and those deadlines. And as long as I make my deadlines, I can take a day off whenever I please!
Not for me. Places close early and no post. On the plus side we are away Sat to Mon (coincidental. I had no clue it was Easter and I’m not religious) and I’m hoping to see some red squirrels on Brownsea Island on Sunday. 🐿️
Enjoy your chocolates! I'm in the US, so it's just Easter here. We're going out to lunch and then to the Base to pick up groceries. My husband and I are meeting family for lunch on Sunday. I'm looking forward to walking, reading, and watching the Alchemy of Souls series on Netflix.
I worked at a bank for serval years. I didn't care for bank holidays either. Our work was always tripled the day after the holiday. Customers being mad, angry and upset with us for being closed. Customers forgetting a holiday was approaching. Running to the bank at the last minute. It was awful! No. I'm not keen on bank holidays either.

Cast-on-itis - you just know that Battenburg will be cast on. Would it help to pull out all your other blankets in progress?

Just realised that there is a person above me in the comments who has the same name as me! How weird 😁

Love your color choices!
