September is always get into real knitting gear for me and I do love the Autumn leaves and smells of burning leaves and wood fires. I have never done a MCAL because they often use up a ton of yarn and I wouldnt want to commit my best skeins without knowing where they would go. I really didnt like the last SW one, although he is a genius. His YT channel is full of little tips and tricks which open up new windows in the knitting brain. I'm thinking of a scarf and a short sleeved top as my next designs and will be swatching on the beach as were heading south tomorrow for a few weeks.
He is such a clever knitter and I love the way his brain works. Like you say though, I don't always love the end result - but the process is amazing to watch.
Enjoy your holiday - hope you get some good knitting time in.
Just like I don’t like mystery yarn grab bags I never was interested in mystery KALS. I know my style, simple classics that I can use a multiple ways. Right now it is shawls, but it took years before I found designers who spoke to me. I am not into ruffles, frilly things, I love geometrical, gansey, interesting patterns but not heavy into lace. I appreciate the time, effort, expertise these require, but they just aren’t me. Right now the heatwave is still going on 40+ days above 100 degrees, (Texas, USA) so the fact that I am knitting impresses me!
That is serious dedication to knitting indeed. I find it hard to knit on anything when it's very warm. My brain turns to mush as well which doesn't help.
On the note of Stephen’s MKALs, I love the walk throughs. They are so helpful. But the question I posed is, what is to stop someone from knitting the shawl from the walk through and not buying the pattern. Maybe only their consciousnesses but it was a random one I put out there.
I bought the Sock MKAL and after about step 2 I wasn’t loving it. I’ve decided to wait for the parts to come out of Geogradient then decide whether to do it later on. For boys socks and Starflanket are happening.
I love the fact that he pushes boundaries and every time I have knit one of his designs I've learned something. Like you though, I think I'll watch and wait to see how the shawl one plays out.

September is the beginning of the “BER months” ~ my favorite season septemBER, octoBER, novemBER, decemBER!
Absolutely. Definitely my favourite months too.

I just read Martyn's post. I won't be doing it either, but it will be fun to watch and see everyone's progress.
