I use digital for quickly adding all the things I sign up for (webinars, training, etc.) to my calendar but I also prefer paper. I jot down thoughts throughout the day, notes, quotes, etc. For that, I have used undated quarterly journals for the past year. However, I also didn't like the wasted space if I didn't do anything for a week. This year, I bought an inexpensive dot grid journal, put in a future log, sketched out twelve months (because I like to see my full month) and left the rest blank. When I use it to write down day to day stuff, I can jot down the date at the top of the page and then make my notes and stuff. I find I can't be completely analog but I also can't do a dated planner, since I hate the waste, and I can't do a full on bullet journal because I spend all my time decorating and never use it because of anxiety. This new method seems to be working well though.
Hope you're feeling better. The new design looks lovely. I was fighting the digital vs. analog planning for long. In the end, for me, I am not proud to say this, but digital won. Still holding on to paper for sketching though.
Thank you, it's hard to get past the convenience of digital isn't it. Just having everything to hand without having to lug a heavy handbag is a real bonus.
Aww, hope you're all feeling better soon Louise...
I wish I could figure out Notion properly... I moved a lot of my content planning there last year, but it all just felt clunky. Maybe I need some good YouTube videos to inspire me because I still get FOMO when I hear about other people using it!
I'm really excited for this time of year (and got prepped with some Perfectly Penned notebooks before she sadly had to close down) it's bullet journals and hand-made wall planners all the way for me :)
I'm definitely still figuring it out. I bought a Notion planner template on a friends recommendation (and it was on sale) and it has really helped me to focus - and also given me a kind of barebones framework that I can duplicate and adapt for other things. https://productivitymethod.com/pages/digital-planner
I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I can relate to the kid who’s no longer in the house getting sick and all the feelings. It gets easier, and they get better at doing it without us. Bittersweet. I love your slow cooker idea- I usually do it on the stove top but this is better and I’ll be doing it- maybe just for winter weekends in general. I don’t need to be sick to benefit from ginger tea. I’m looking forward to seeing your new cowl- I’m definitely a cowl person. Take care.
I battle with digital vs paper too! My happy place right now is a Hobonichi A6 planner paired with Notion. I bought my book for 2024, but digital has taken a big place in my daily planning! Also I use the Remarkable 2 paper tablet for journaling. I like that it feels tactile like paper writing, but I can tag and search for journal entries!
I really like the paper feel of it, and being able to send my handwritten notes or my drawings to the cloud. Makes it easy to share diagrams or images I draw. And I also like that my journal has now unlimited pages instead of buying a journal every two months! I use it as my Bullet journal and for meeting notes as well, it's easy to make it organized! If you are looking to buy one and would like a 40$ discount let me know! I'll share my link with you!

That sounds like a great compromise. I think many of struggle with being all digital or all paper - I think some form of middle ground is inevitable.

Absolutely. And the 'search'. And the little magic of 'undo'. How do we live without those anymore? 🙈
I hope you feel better soon and your shawl design is lovely. It does look cozy. :)
Thank you - on both counts xx

Oh that’s a very good idea, starting with a template… good thinking!

Thank you - and yes, being the parent to growing up kids is a real challenge sometimes.
I know what you mean about ginger tea - I have a large mugful next to me right now. I'm convinced it's the best thing to have in winter.
