Welcome to my weekly newsletter where I do a little summary of what’s been making me smile this week, and a quick catch up of what I’ve been working on. This week I have been mostly trying to climb back on my reading wagon, having rather dramatically fallen off it some weeks ago. I set myself a goal of reading 52 books this year and whilst I got off to a roaring start I came to an abrupt halt sometime in March. I really love the way Kindle tracks your reading streak but for me, when I break the streak my brain seems to give up completely. It’s as though it gives my brain permission to say ‘nah, may as well not bother then’.
Oh I so feel you when it comes to reading these days. I miss the time when I managed to get through two or three books a week. Granted, that was way back in school but still. I've been trying to get back into reading, this week, by taking some time before bed. It's not a lot but I get through at least a few pages so I'll count that as a success!
If I wasn't already working on a blanket, I might have joined the KAL this year. There is always next year, though, so maybe then I'll manage it. And have enough scarp sock yarn for it. Might be worth frogging the other sock yarn square I have. Ah well, it's still time to decide.
Love Daisy Jones and the Six. I was a bit nervous about watching as I love the book but it is the best book to screen adaptation I have ever seen. I did get a bit distracted by all the crochet though, I have a long list of ideas for 70s Daisy Jones inspired summer makes 😀
Hope you find your reading fiction groove soon. I've written about my April reading this week - there might be something that takes your fancy! https://junegirvin.substack.com
I’m reading a lot at the moment as I’m on holiday. I am so enjoying the fictional novels, I must keep it up once home. I’ve also got an audio book on the go as I enjoy knitting and listening.
