This is just what I needed to read this morning. Christmas has been lovely but a maelstrom and today is the first time I can consider slumping. Your holiday cottage in the snow sounds idyllic. We are heading to a beach for fresh air and exercise. And then knitting!

Totally agree. It feels like time to breathe and just to ..be.

I'm eternally grateful I no longer have to work these Inbetween days.

You're so right - embrace being you. Sod the 5am yoga practices etc etc. And who wants Cold Sheep really?

This year has not turned out as I'd imagined. This xmas I am heartbroken, picking up the pieces, mending myself, weaving strands of silver through the shards and creating something prettier. I don't do goals and resolutions - I usually do a word for the year - but this year I am revisiting the Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte and thinking how I want to feel during 2025 and allowing that to guide me wherever possible.

Here's to a 2025 that finds us finding and being ourselves, unapologetically.

I agree with you. Twixtmas is when I can finally exhale. The pressure is off and I can just sit, knit, and enjoy my tree.

Absolutely. It's like I can breathe a huge sigh of relief now that the pressure of Christmas is over

I usually breathe a sigh of relief in that lull before the new year, but it hasn’t truly come yet, so I’ve put my OOO on for an extra week to make space for it. Fortunate to be able to do that but my health is calling for it!

Absolutely. There is no hurry to re-enter the world

I love this bit too. All duty is over and plans have unfolded. I absolutely love it. Just eaten loads of Indian snacks and watched some of the moonflower murders. I read a whole book today. It’s heaven.

Absolutely loved this entry - so spot on. 😻

That sounds like such a fantastic tradition, Louise. I love the liminal space between Christmas and New Year too.

So cozy. I haven’t checked the date in 3 days and it’s crazy how I realised this as I was reading your post. I am finally able to slow down now✨

It’s so nice to just take the pressure off and just float for a bit isn’t it.

Christmas has been a wonderful whirlwind of family time and now I’m traveling home to sit and crochet, read and drink coffee. I’m starting a book blanket. A granny square for each book read this year. I think it’ll be fun and I’m interested in creating on a small scale. With other projects thrown in.

Ooh - a book blanket sounds fascinating. I’m off to do a bit of reading around that.

You would love it. You design a square for each book read

Merry Twixmas Louise. I am making no plans or resolutions for 2025. I am hoping that some of the endless inspiration that I have for my Substack will slowly take shape and form over the year, but no Grand Plans. A word for the year ahead may come to me, perhaps. ✨💛

I still haven;t got a word yet - am hoping for some divine inspiration.

My daughter, SIL and grandson went home yesterday (house feels very quiet!), my brother is leaving later today to drive back up to Lincoln. I am planning a quick clean in the kitchen and hoovering the front room - then it will be curling up with my knitting until later (catching up on some of the programmes I haven't managed to watch yet), when my son and I will be starting a new jigsaw puzzle. I love Twixtmas too! (oh, and I just purchased the Twixtmas cowl pattern - so maybe will start that later).

Oh, that sounds like the perfect plan. I hope you have a wonderful day.
