I feel we’re all living in different time zones depending on our stage of life; people with young children at school (myself included) feel like January is skipping along rather quickly, and how is it that half term feels like it’s nearly here when we are still recovering and catching up from the mayhem of Christmas and the holidays?
Oooh! I just got a new kindle update, too. (Mine is Jade; there's something so fun about choosing a pretty color, isn't there?) Like you, I've been so impressed by the speed difference. On to more reading! (And the better to load random knitting patterns!)
The case came from Lorton & Horn who I found through their lovely Instagram account.
In terms of Storygraph it is at heart an app for tracking your reading. You can also ‘friend’ people there and see what your friends are reading and how they rate them. In addition you can host book clubs there or reading challenges. Last year I ran a summer reading challenge for my paid community here and it was great fun.
That is a pretty kindle colour! I'd love to know what you book goals are. I've set myself the task of reading 40 books this year. The last time I read that many it was 2021, no prizes for guessing why, last year I read 34 so it's a stretch but doable :)
Last year I set myself the goal of 50 and managed something like 85 - and that was with a few fallow periods.
This year I am learning to love audio books more and as I do a lot of driving for family/Uni son visits I think I can probably read quite a few that way as well.
I’m currently loving Miranda Hart’s new book as an audio book so I think I probably need to look for some more in the same vein. For some reason I can’t listen to fiction audio books, but non fiction is fine 🤣
100, wow! I never listen to audiobooks because if I’m not writing or reading and so can listen I prefer podcasts or music. I read Miranda Hart’s book at the end of last year and enjoyed it. Listening to fiction makes me think of listening to the Famous Five on cassette tape in the car driving on holiday!
It's a bold aim I admit, but my argument to myself is that if I stop scrolling social media and read instead I can probably find a lot more time than I think 🤣
I love SG! I started properly using it last year and I like it that's not as loud as Goodreads, the design is beautiful and it's an independent start-up. Followed you :) (I'm @autumnchild)
Oh yay, I’ll pop over there and follow back. I tried and failed to get into Goodreads for years and I was thrilled when SG started up. I love how responsive they are - especially considering they are such a small team.
I'm with you...I was looking at my calendar earlier this week and was like "There's still 3 full weeks in the month...phew". Funnily my husband and I were talking about Kindles earlier too...xo
Love your new Kindle Louise; what a great gift from your husband! Mine is very slow and old too. I'm tempted to ask my mum to knit me some fingerless gloves. Not sure if I have Reynaud's but I get terribly cold hands and feet sometimes so they would really help.
I love that it's an independently owned small business. The tiny team are really responsive to feedback and it's a really user-friendly interface. You can use it to track your reading, see what your friends are reading and check out reviews. There is also the option to host and participate in book clubs and reading challenges.

Loved this Louise 🥰
Love your Kindle and the case too. Where did you find it? Want to hear more about Storygraph.

It’s such a looong month isn’t it 🤣

Fingerless mitts sound like a great idea.
