“Coming ready or not”
Did you ever shout that as kids playing hide and seek. If you were ‘it’ you would have covered your eyes, carefully counted up to the required number and then would set off gleefully in search of the hiders - shouting that you were coming for them, whether they were ready or not.
Christmas is a bit like that I always think.
It’s coming, and will come whether you deem yourself ready or not.
There have definitely been Boxing Days when I’ve seen Christmas Day retreating in the rear view mirror and felt as though I’d been run over by the juggernaut of festivities.
These days I do things a little differently. I want to still feel human once the ‘big day’ is over, not knackered.

It is one day, for which 90%+ of the labor is loaded onto women. I mostly opt out. 🤷🏻♀️
In the US Christmas starts in September, honestly; as soon as Starbucks releases the pumpkin spice latte, everyone goes insane. It's all they can do to not play Christmas music in the stores until after Halloween. We keep a slow and simple holiday season at our house, and it is very good for our bodies and souls.
