I was so excited to finally have a misty morning in which to read my new book. Of course I could have read Chasing Fog, the new book from
at any time (and indeed I have). But in my head when I bought it I was picturing a cosy morning at home - a second cup of coffee on a tray at my side, alongside a delicious pastry. And most importantly a swirling, luminous, misty morning outside my window. Here on the North Essex/Cambridge border we don’t often get full blown fog but we do quite often get mist at the seasonal shifts of summer into autumn (and winter into spring).
And yesterday we were treated to just that. Luckily I had nowhere to be after a busy week of errands and visiting Uni sons, so I got to stay in bed, coffee in hand and read to my hearts content. I had to forgo the pastry through as a) we didn’t have any and b) I’m supposed to be on a diet.
And it was such a wonderful treat. Laura’s writing is just so hauntingly evocative that you feel as though you are right alongside her during her fog hunting journey. I’m not going to lie though - a pain au chocolat would have been very welcome too.

🍁 I know I’ve already mentioned the cooler, misty mornings but there’s a special joy that comes from stepping outside my door and seeing all the little spider webs lit up in intricate detail.

A book in hand, warm pastry and fog outside sounds so perfect. 😍I am waiting for some colder days too, but there is a heatwave right now, apparently last of the season. And Thank you for mentioning Almas mitts. 🤗🤍
I just finished knitting the Ten Lords-a-leaping for a Christmas display.
