I know exactly what you mean about summer feet. I knitted two pairs of 'foot socks' last year and have been so much more comfy in them. I wear them with open sandals all the time - it's trendy now apparently. I've also discovered something called Toe Toppers which are a sock that just covers your toes and half the foot - great in mules and clogs, but boring in fabric and colour. I might try and knit some....
And bravo for talking about the relentless up-beatness about the hot weather. Yes, It's pleasant most of the time, but when you've had a hose pipe ban for over a year and the water butts are dry (all six of them) and the garden is baked to dust, it's not so clever. And globally, it really isn't clever. I'm working hard to try to do better with waste and recycling and would love more reviews of shampoo bars etc. Thank you. Also if you're one of the many people who take medication that is potentiated (increases it's effect) by the heat, you have to be so careful, and loads of people don't even realise. My meds mean I burn very easily especially around my face, chest and neck, so have to be super-careful.
Oh goodness yes - and dehydration is much more of a problem if you are on certain medications too. A poor lady at Tesco collapsed this morning and the ambulance guy who was with her was giving her a mini lecture (in a nice way) about drinking more because of the tablets she was on.
Toe Toppers sound intruiging. I've seen patterns for knitted yoga socks before that are like socks missing the toe/back of heel, but I'll have to look out for something that might work in clogs etc
If it makes you feel any better, the attitude of certain parts of the media towards climate change is not representative of the rest of us. About 75% of the UK is "(very or somewhat) worried about climate change" (data from the ONS). The tabloids, though, don't care about anything but themselves.
It really is. News orgs, even the reputable ones, are desperate for attention so they tend to amp up the conflict, when really what's going on is that business leaders and politicians are out of step with the rest of us. Depressing, but not as bad as the idea that no one knows or cares about climate change. What we need is action from industry and government, so the question is how to force them to do stuff. Easier said than done, sadly.
I am in the USA, specifically in Texas. I think we might be going into our summer. Today our temp is 106 degrees. We are going from a wet spring to a normal summer, we just hope we get some rainstorms! Everything is green right now, but with 106 average temperature we will dry out quickly. We have been in a serious drought for the past five years. You learn ways to cope, always have a bottle of water with you, burn time is 10 to 5 pm. Air conditioning is a gift, and stay inside with knitting, good books, and cold foods. I am not worried about climate change, we are having high inflation, fighting about book bans, a crappy president, and the list goes on and on. It can be depressing if you let it get to you. As a treat we have ice cream. This is my life, not bad at all.

Anyway - a great post today. Thank you!

That's a good point. It's very easy to get caught up in all of the divisive rhetoric that's around isn't it.
