Intarsia? Cables? Brioche? (the non-tasty kind) 🥐
I think every Knitter secretly has a technique that whilst it doesn't exactly scare them, if they see a pattern calls for it they are likely to quietly scroll on past.
For me it's the dreaded CDD - or central double decrease.
I love the way it looks. A neat symmetrical, one might even say central, decrease.
But I cannot abide the way it means you have to keep moving your decrease marker in order to work it.
A tiny niggle in the greater scheme of things I know but it really interrupts my flow and reduces the enjoyment of the whole thing.
Hence I will always, almost without exception replace it with a paired ssk/k2tog.
Yes, I know I can just do away with the marker and read my knitting, and sometimes I do. But I'm easily distracted and if I'm not careful I can be many rows in before I notice that my careful decrease line now resembles a dog's hind leg.
What makes you say “nope” when you encounter it in a pattern?
Do let me know in the comments - in the spirit of gentle cameraderie you understand 🤣

I hate 1x1 ribbing. 2x2, 3x1 absolutely no problem but I dread 1x1.
I like most things in knitting and will have a go at anything but the two things I try to avoid but know will be encountering very soon will be German short rows and Italian cast off.
I’ve tried them before and I’m still a little unconfident but I’ve started a garment which I want to finish because the look is lovely and the yarns are gorgeous but I know I have to gird my loins and crack on!
I’m thinking of the sense of achievement I’ll have when I’ve sorted these blighters so I need to get on with it!
