I hate 1x1 ribbing. 2x2, 3x1 absolutely no problem but I dread 1x1.

It's funny how certain things really annoy us isn't it. I don't mind 1×1 ribbing but the cuff of a sock is more than enough. I'm ready to stop after an inch.

I like most things in knitting and will have a go at anything but the two things I try to avoid but know will be encountering very soon will be German short rows and Italian cast off.

I’ve tried them before and I’m still a little unconfident but I’ve started a garment which I want to finish because the look is lovely and the yarns are gorgeous but I know I have to gird my loins and crack on!

I’m thinking of the sense of achievement I’ll have when I’ve sorted these blighters so I need to get on with it!

Cheering you on 🎉🎉 I quite like German short rows but I very much have to be in the right mindset for them

Counting. I check myself over and over. Make sure I have the right amount only to find after an inch, not enough or too many. Stitch markers!

I am 59. I have two degrees. I am apparently unable to count to two. Lifelines, lobster clips and stitch markers all the way.

Nupps every time - I've tried every which way of working them. If they are in a shawl, I'll replace them with beading.

Oh yes! Even with super sharp needles and whip-like tension mine always look a little floppy and lackluster

Nupps. Ugh. I forgot about nupps. Wholeheartedly agree!

Bobbles. I hates them I do. I will avoid any pattern with them because they really do piss me off. Irrationally so, apparently.

Yup, I have to agree with you on that

Every time I would knit something with a bobble, or nipping it would be right where my actual nipple was. Ripppppp

Colourwork 🙈 I’ve tried it on mittens and can’t seem to get my tension right. I’ve optimistically bought the pattern and yarn for a couple of garments but never had the courage to start them, I’ve had one for over 5 yrs (the Floribunda I think it’s called). They’re beautiful patterns and I know I’d be so proud to complete even one of them! But alas, I never seem to find the right time to start such a monumental (for me!) task. Sigh

I’m working my way through the “stitch a day” calendar I found in the closet right after the holidays, and if I never have to do another cable stitch ever, it will be too soon! 🤯🫠

Short rows. I have a serious blind spot for short rows - I miscount somewhere or just do something … wrong. Also bobbles. I do not have the energy to knit into the next stitch five times.

I can never get bobbles to look neat no matter how careful I am.

Not a stitch i know, but the thought of using dpns leaves me totally anxious. I'd love to learn how to knit socks (I've been knitting 48yrs), but the dpns put me off. I'll have a go at anything else. Maybe this year is my year to overcome it x
