DK garter stitch cardigan knitted in one piece - a old Phildar pattern which I’ve used for all my nephews and nieces - the oldest of which is now 52, as well as my own children who are now in their twenties & thirties, now the great nieces & nephews - always in an olive green because I don’t believe in gendered baby clothes.
Quickest is the cute Tegan baby hat with a top knot. Most favourite is the Norwegian Fir cardigan by Oge Designs. Lovely simple garter stitch one button cardy with a fake cable raglan.
I have a go-to baby hat pattern that is by Woolly Wormhead - it's actually three hats in one pattern, the Trio of Hats. I make the beanie version with the i-cord on the top that you can tie in a knot 😁 takes no time at all!
I have a Sirdar pattern for a 4-ply cardigan which I have used many times - I can't quite finish it in one evening, but it is done in a couple of days.
I'm also a baby hat knitter, but my friend (a much better knitter than I am) made my daughter a sweater and a pair of mittens connected with an i-cord and they are so beautiful I will keep them forever. The little mittens just melt my heart.
Kate Atherley has a free pattern for baby socks that are pretty quick and so cute. If I have more time I will make a baby vertebrae which is another free pattern, it’s a frontless cardigan. I can knock one of those out in a week
The angora baby booties from 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts' by Joelle Holverson (sp?) and if I have time a matching hat(usually the Tegan top knot) I keep a stash of angora on hand, just for these.
Little hat and matching booties are always a quick knit for me. The pattern I go to is from a Simply Knitting magazine from a few years ago, just DK, super sweet and simple ☺️

Olive green is one of my favourite colours too - I don't generally do pastels.
The Call the Midwife blanket or DK garter stitch cardigan all in one but finding buttons always slows down the finishing of that one
Buttons are always my nemesis. Super cute but it takes me ages to get around to choosing them and then sewing them on.

Oh, thank you for the reminder. I have the Norwegian Fir pattern in my queue somewhere
It's a lovely easy pattern to knit, and looks so neat on. They have lots of great patterns on their website too.
It’s a dk baby jacket for me, although it will take me more than an evening. https://sirdar.com//en/products/cardigan-in-snuggly-pattercake-dk
Aww, that's a very cute one

Aww, she does great hats
The Hosenmatz pants - in all sizes. I use sock yarn like Regia or Opal. Especially the ones that have a Nordic design. The pattern is free :

If you look on Ravelry or
Pinterest, there are so many Hosenmatz pants in so many different patterns .
I knit a 3 months pair of pants in 2 days.

You read my mind, Louise! Barley hat, every time!

Either a knitted ripple or a 2x2 rib pattern warm and stretchy!

I make Jellybeanz baby socks and a baby hat that was in a daily knitting calendar! Socks in worsted, hat in DK
Baby socks in worsted weight are instant gratification aren't they
