Love the idea of quiet hobbies cafe. A lot of the bars around here, and even the museum, have board game nights. Here's hoping the quiet hobbies theme catches on.
I love the sound of a quiet hobbies night. I've definitely found myself re-embracing the quiet hobbies I enjoyed as a child. It started out as a way to stop the scroll and now my phone is never, ever the first port of call. Yes to creating and consuming things that fill us with joy <3
Yes - I happened to retire from my day job during Covid (well it wasn’t so much that I happened to do it, but that I realised, somewhat to my surprise, that working from home wasn’t for me) and immediately started knitting again as well as fishing out the cross-stitch kits various family members had given me over the past twenty or so years and starting to work through them. Then there were the jigsaw puzzles…
We can only do so much. And our brains just can't cope with appalling info on a 24/7 basis. Protecting yourself and your nervous system is the smart thing to do.
I love the idea of quiet hobby nights! There’s something really nice about being “together but separate” with other crafters and readers all doing their own thing.

My younger son is in Norwich and apparently it has one of the highest numbers of board game cafes per capita in the UK 🤣

My husband just told me that they have a boardgames club at his place of work - and that just made me so happy 🤣

Oh yes, I forgot to mention jigsaw puzzles. My mum will not be impressed as we are both huge puzzle fans.
I am all in with cozy hobbies :)
This is so true. I crochet most days to keep from doom scrolling cause in the US it’s ugh so bad. And it really helps me feel peaceful

Your stack makes such a difference. Thank you
Oh my goodness, thank you - what a lovely thing to read today 🧡
I ALWAYS find something so naturally enjoyable in your work Louise. I appreciate that so.

Exactly. I'm keeping a keen eye out for the next one. I'm determined to give it a go
Cosy hobbies are amazing, and especially now during winter, I've been leaning into them a lot more :)
Loved it all . . . so hilarious at the end. No driving after dark for me either! 🤣
Once I'm home it takes an awful lot to winkle me back out again.
