💬 What's in your cosy craft space?
Coffee, blankets, snacks - I'm basically a hobbit at this point
Do you have a cosy crafting space in your house - or are you more of a roaming crafter?
I only ask because up until recently I would have classed myself in the latter category. With two teen boys at home and a lot going on I would invariably move my knitting around from room to room - or more often - just leave a little yarny trail wherever I went.
My family were quite used to finding a sock WIP in the fruit bowl on the kitchen table (so I could get a few rounds in while watching dinner). And they learned (the hard way) always to check for sharp needle points before sitting on anything that looked like a project bag or a blanket in progress, left on the sofa.
But recently things have changed. Both boys have left home for Uni for starters - and although I don’t like the term ‘empty nester’ preferring the more amusing ‘baby bird launcher’ instead I do have to admit that life is very different around here.
It’s certainly quieter and there is a lot less clutter. I also find myself with more free time in the day. After chatting with people here about the value of digital free space (and time) I have slowly been building myself a cosy corner in the living room. A place that I retreat to when I need to take a break from the online world or when I just want a little bit of downtime.
The only rule is that this corner is off limits to my mobile phone - that has to stay in the next room. Or at least on mute on the other side of the room.
Apart from that, a few things in my cosy corner are constant. There is always a hot drink (coffee in the morning, herbal tea later on), usually a book, a snack, a blanket and a knitting project.

I have a corner of the kitchen with my very comfy armchair and a basket with my projects stuffed inside. It looks out on the garden and sat with my feet up on the round stool, I can sometimes rest my feet on if my cat doesn’t beat me to it, I am at home.
In our old UK house I used to sit in the corner of the sofa across from the TV. I was like Sheldon. I had my seat and woe be tide anyone who said in *my* spot. Then when we moved to our first Danish apartment again. I had my spot (corner of the sofa in the lounge. Could watch the kids play while I knitted/crocheted). When we moved to our second and now our current apartment I often end up sat at the kitchen table or my desk. Our sofa is no longer the most comfortable spot in the apartment. (We have sofa bed thing now and as much as I’d like to trade it in for a nice Ikea Ektorp sofa like we had in the UK, it still does it’s job so doesn’t need to be replaced right now). Sometimes I sit in bed but then the temptation is to snuggle down against the Danish winter and sometimes involves an accidental nap… oops!
